Gold Stars Lesson 4
If you choose to do the optional “Home Fun Activities”, remember to keep them in your tote bag and bring them to class each week. We do not use them every week, but your child will be excited to participate with their own creations when we do! They are also learning to keep their music materials organized, a useful skill for future studies!
Children first understand time through general terms such as yesterday, tomorrow, morning, and night. In Sound Beginnings our goal is to introduce the numbers found on analog clocks, and expose children to the idea that specific periods of time throughout the day can be represented by those numbers. Using a fun singing game and the well-known nursery rhyme Hickory Dickory Dock, we hope to playfully prepare children for more complex concepts about clocks and the passage of time.
Optional home fun activity: Make the clock on page 25 of your workbook
(Remember, these activities are optional but can be a great bonding experience to do with your child during the week.)
For my convenience, I have preloaded content for the whole semester. I will update each future post with specific time-sensitive info before I send the link each week. If you choose to read ahead you might see details that don’t apply to your child’s class. For this reason I do not recommend reading ahead. Thank you!
