Orange Roots Lesson 13

Okay, we are skidding into the finish line with Let’s Play Music and it’s okay if things are feeling a little like a whirlwind. Just keep plugging along and if you can only get your child to play one thing, focus on their composition. Break it down into pieces and help them master it. Here are the main tasks for the week:

  • Send me a Marco Polo of Bagatelle Bridges and Russian Sailor’s Dance.
  • Use pg. 55 in workbook to record three performances of your child’s composition. Play it for Ms. Judie, grandparents, friends, church teachers, dad, etc. Be sure they read the intro info from pg. 29 in the workbook, then perform their piece, then BOW!

The recital will be May 3rd at 6:30-8pm, so you can begin arriving around 6:15pm to get a good seat. I predict 3rd years taking 30 min. They will be wearing their Sunday Best.

If nerves are making your student worried, I’m happy to do private lessons with your student to build confidence for their performance. Just text me.

Next week is Lesson 14 – No Parents. The following week is Lesson 15, Station Day, YES PARENTS.

Yankee Doodle
This familiar favorite will have us adding chords to a melody and learning to improvise in a varied accompanying style.

Our Let’s Play Music blog has a fun post all about Yankee Doodle and gives all sorts of little known facts as well as ideas to continue practicing through the summer!

For my convenience, I have preloaded content for the whole semester. I will update each future post with specific time-sensitive info before I send the link each week. If you choose to read ahead you might see details that don’t apply to your child’s class. For this reason I do not recommend reading ahead. Thank you!
