White Horses Lesson 11

Our last week of class with be “Instrument Day”! This fun lesson gives families a chance to share an instrument with the class. Do you, or someone you know, play an instrument you would be willing to share? Maybe your child wants to try a solo from the semester (vocal or on an instrument from home). Of course, performing is optional and you are welcome to just enjoy. Start talking to your child about what instrument you would like to share with the group on this exciting lesson!

Why encourage young children to sing?

  • The ability and confidence to sing is known to positively impact a child’s self concept and his/her social perspective, which then has a positive influence on how they work within groups and his/her communication skills.
  • Singing provides an emotional release for children. It develops their sense of security and provides a way to express feelings.
  • Songs embody the beliefs and musical values of a culture, providing one of the best means for children to learn about, understand, and appreciate different cultures.

Optional home fun activity: Create your cowboy scene on page 27 in your workbook
(Remember, these activities are optional but can be a great bonding experience to do with your child during the week.)

For my convenience, I have preloaded content for the whole semester. I will update each future post with specific time-sensitive info before I send the link each week. If you choose to read ahead you might see details that don’t apply to your child’s class. For this reason I do not recommend reading ahead. Thank you!
