Silver Buttons Lesson 14
Next week is instrument day!
When: Saturday May 6th at 10:15am
Where: Red Mountain Multigenerational Center 7550 E Adobe St Mesa, AZ 85207
Bring instruments to share, and feel free to invite family/friends who may have a real instrument to share with the group. We’ll have a craft, treat, songs, activities, and instruments to see!
Exposing a child to various instruments may spark an interest in a particular sound and might be what encourages the child to choose an instrument to study further! Listening to solo instruments develops an understanding of timbre and tone. Timbre (TAM-ber) is the unique and distinctive sound that belongs to a specific instrument and distinguishes it from any other instrument. Tone refers to the quality and frequency of a sound as compared to itself; the difference in frequencies of low sounds (“bass”) and high sounds (“treble”).
Optional home fun activity: Do the Instrument Day activity on page 18
(Remember, these activities are optional but can be a great bonding experience to do with your child during the week.)
For my convenience, I have preloaded content for the whole semester. I will update each future post with specific time-sensitive info before I send the link each week. If you choose to read ahead you might see details that don’t apply to your child’s class. For this reason I do not recommend reading ahead. Thank you!
