Gold Stars Lesson 6
Even preschool skills are introduced through play in a Sound Beginnings class! Play is among the most effective methods for acquiring new skills because it encourages repetition and experimentation, and feels natural and safe to children.
March is SPIRIT Month! Registration for Fall begins March 1st. If you host a yard sign for a week you get 10 points, for a month you get 30 points!! You also get points for every social media post you make with the proper tags: #LPMSpiritWeek2024 #SoundBeginnings @JudiesMusic. More details HERE.
These monkeys have meaning! Basic counting is instinctual to children. The ability to identify by quantity comes naturally to them, although they must be taught the names and symbols of numbers. Because counting and language are interlinked, reading books with numbers promotes number sense, and seeing pictures that represent quantity further reinforces understanding. Manipulating actual objects (like the monkey cutouts) is an opportunity to construct physical models and make counting even more concrete.
Optional home fun activity: Make the five silly monkey cutouts on page 22 & 35 of your workbook
(Remember, these activities are optional but can be a great bonding experience to do with your child during the week.)
For my convenience, I have preloaded content for the whole semester. I will update each future post with specific time-sensitive info before I send the link each week. If you choose to read ahead you might see details that don’t apply to your child’s class. For this reason I do not recommend reading ahead. Thank you!
